The Pony Club comes to Honnington
From time to time we play host to the Sevenoaks (West Kent) Pony Club. Local members have been riding in both jumping clinics and Mounted Games, which are gymkhana-like games in preparation for the Prince Philip Cup. Each year over 250 teams take part in these games producing 6 finalists for the Horse of the Year Show. The Pony Club has been practising at Bending Poles (also known as Speed Weavers), the Mug Race and the Flag Race, where flags are placed in and retrieved from quite small containers at high speed.
The jumping clinics have helped to strengthen the show jumping teams at both junior and senior level. Jump-off techniques have also been a feature.
