Clinics and lessons at the Honnington Equestrian Centre
Over the last few years we have organised clinics and lessons with a wide range of instructors and trainers. These have included Peter Maddison-Greenwell (who runs the Holdenby Stables where 'El Caballo de Espaņa' is based), Andy Ford (BHSAI) (who still holds clinics here with the Riding Club), Wizz Clack (a BYRDS (British Young Riders Dressage Scheme) Trainer and one of the British Dressage's Under 21 Talent Spotting Assessors), Daniel Baddeley (BHSII) (who runs the livery yard at Frogpool Manor), Martine Weber (who runs the livery yard at Clockhouse near Bidborough and has held clinics with the Sevenoaks Riding Club) and Ben Cooke (BHSII) who was chief instructor and trainer at Honnington for several years.

The main units at the Honnington Equestrian Centre presently organise a wide range of lessons and clinics:

  • EQUSTAR. Phil Bache (BHSAI) takes both flatwork and jumping lessons. These can be 1 to 1 or in small groups. Phil and Michelle of Equstar also offer a wide range of courses for horse owners to help develop a close relationship with their horse and to understand how their horse sees the world. They also organise medieval jousting and skills at arms courses.

  • HONNINGTON RIDING SCHOOL The Riding School offers a wide range of instruction for adults and children of all ages and abilities. Group lessons and private lessons are available. There are also jumping lessons.

  • DIY LIVERY YARD. There are just over 40 boxes rented by DIYers at Honnington. Most, not all, are members of the Honnington Riding Club (membership is open to everyone who rides at Honnington.). The Club organises a wide range of activities which include lectures and clinics (see below).

  • The Honnington Riding Club - in association with Andy Ford - organises weekly jumping clinics. They are usually held in the main indoor school at Honnington, but when conditions allow, the clinics sometimes take place at the cross country course.

In the past, some of the clinics would have a specific theme, i.e. 'fillers and scary jumps' or 'indoor cross country.' Now we alternate with 'intermediate' and 'advanced' groups.

Andy Ford (BHSAI) has been holding clinics at Honnington for several years now. Andy runs a yard near Borough Green and trains event riders, show jumpers, and works with local pony clubs and riding clubs.
